Hey, I’m Chris.
I specialise in translating ambitious ideas into robust physical solutions, operating confidently across mechanical, electrical, embedded integration, advanced prototyping, validation systems, fabrication, education and DFM.
My Approach
I enjoy working at the boundaries of disciplines where mechanics, electronics, software and human interaction intersect.
I thrive in environments where curiosity, iteration and collaboration are valued, and where technical work is always anchored in meaningful outcomes rather than novelty for its own sake.
I’m at my best when I’m part of a team that approaches challenges holistically, understanding the why before the how and committed to creating things that feel as thoughtful as they are well-engineered.
Throughout my work from medical research engineering and advanced automation to exhibition systems and public installations my motivation has always been the same: to build things that deliver delight through reliability and thoughtful design.
Ocado Technology
Ocado OIA
Delivered eight years of technical, research and robotics innovation at Ocado Technology, building the prototyping infrastructure and electromechanical systems that enabled new automation technologies to move from experimental concept to validated engineering platforms.
Due to IP limitations only select projects can be detailed.
Case Studies
Codemates
NEXUS Studio
Integrating live coding and remote execution with a physical character, it’s all about putting children in the driver’s seat alongside a friendly copilot and unleashing them to explore new digital skills through creativity, play and humour.
Gold Standard Phantom
Quantitative Medical Imaging is not yet a clinical reality. Despite wide acceptance in research, intrinsically quantitative methods such as Arterial Spin Labelling are still not used in daily clinical practice. As such, our first product will provide the enabling step to make the clinical use of quantitative ASL possible.
OpenCollido
Queen Mary University
Collidoscope lets people experience collaborative music making through a simple intuitive interface - your voice and the world around you.
Personal Work
A range of personal projects for my own growth and enjoyment, from PCB design to interactive group projects shared with the community of makers, hackers and tinkerers
Testimonials
"Chris is an exceptional engineer, I can't recommend him highly enough. At Ocado, I've watched him tackle some genuinely complex challenges and do so with creativity and ingenuity. On top of that, he's just a brilliant person to have around - he brings warmth and energy."
Benjamin Lavine, IP Leader
"Chris has a natural ability not only to understand complex systems, but to explain them clearly and patiently. His passion for engineering is infectious, and it has had a lasting impact on my own development and approach to the role."
Jack Andrews, Engineering Manager
"I just wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks for pulling off the biggest , most complicated project I have known and for ensuring that we went LIVE … We managed such a big undertaking with a project that did grow for sure in complexity but also had panache and heart."
Julia Parfitt, Executive Producer Special Projects
"He has been flown around the world to help established teams with their designs and it is truly impressive how quickly he can understand and improve upon these mature designs.
